Terms of use

1. General

The website whattimeisit.zone ("the site") is owned and run by Direktoriya.bg Ltd., company ID (EIK) 203919516, address: 6 Neofit Rilski St., 6100 Kazanlak, Bulgaria, e-mail: info@directory.bg ("the provider").

A "user" is anyone who opens a page of the site. The site has no registration or accounts: all services are available to all users in the same way.

2. Services

The site provides free information about:

• the exact time and date in places, regions and countries around the world;
• time zones, the difference from UTC and daylight saving time, including when the clocks change;
• sunrise, sunset, twilight and the phases of the moon;
• the weather forecast from an external source;
• searching for places.

The provider may change, extend or discontinue services, as well as the structure and design of the site, without notice. Using the site is free of charge. If paid services (such as advertising) are offered in the future, their terms will be agreed separately.

3. Rules of use

You may use the site freely for personal and business purposes, link to any of its pages and quote short pieces of information with a link to the source.

You may not:

• download pages or data automatically in bulk (bots, scripts) in a way that loads the server, or copy the places database;
• use the addresses under /api/ outside the pages of the site itself;
• try to access non-public parts of the site, break its security, overload it or introduce malicious code;
• present the content of the site as your own or show it in a frame on another site;
• use the site in breach of the law or of the rights of others.

In case of a breach, the provider may restrict or block access to the site without notice. The provider discloses information to the competent authorities only when legally required to.

4. Accuracy of the information

The time is calculated by a server synchronized with atomic clocks (NTP) and with the IANA time zone database. On the page it is corrected against your device's clock, so its accuracy also depends on your connection and device. Place data comes from GeoNames, population from Wikidata, public holidays from python-holidays, the weather forecast from Open-Meteo, and sunrise, sunset and moon times are astronomical calculations accurate to about a minute (see About for details).

The information is provided for general information "as is", with no guarantee that it is complete, accurate or always available. Do not rely on it as your only source where a mistake could cause harm: in navigation, aviation or medicine, for legal or financial deadlines or for safety.

5. Disclaimer

To the extent permitted by law, the provider is not liable for direct or indirect damage or lost profits from using the site or from being unable to use it, including because of an error in the information, an interruption, a technical problem or the actions of third parties.

The site contains links to other websites. The provider is not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

These limitations do not affect any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

6. Copyright

The texts, design, logo, images and program code of the site are protected by copyright and belong to the provider, unless stated otherwise. All rights reserved. Copying or distributing them without the provider's written permission is prohibited, except for short quotations with a link to the source.

Third-party data and materials are used under their own licenses (the sources and licenses link in the footer of every page leads here):

• places: GeoNames, CC BY 4.0; the names are translated and transliterated, the population is complemented from Wikidata;
• population: Wikidata, CC0 (public domain);
• time zones and daylight saving time: the IANA tz database, public domain;
• weather: weather data by Open-Meteo.com, CC BY 4.0; the forecast is shown rounded and in the units of the page, with the credit next to it;
• weather icons: Meteocons © Bas Milius, MIT;
• public holidays: python-holidays, MIT; the names are translated;
• stock exchange calendars: exchange_calendars, Apache 2.0; the holiday names are complemented from python-holidays and translated;
• eclipses: calculated with Astronomy Engine © Don Cross, MIT;
• maps: data © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL; tiles by OpenFreeMap in the OpenMapTiles schema, BSD 3-Clause and CC BY 4.0; the MapLibre GL JS library, BSD 3-Clause. The credit is also in the corner of each map;
• time zone boundaries on the map: timezone-boundary-builder, from OpenStreetMap data, ODbL; simplified for the web;
• your city on the home page: GeoLite2 by MaxMind, GeoLite2 End User License Agreement. This product includes GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind, available from www.maxmind.com;
• the Montserrat typeface: SIL Open Font License.

7. Personal data

The provider processes users' personal data in line with the Privacy policy and the General Data Protection Regulation.

8. Changes to these terms

The provider may change these terms. The new version applies from its publication on the site; the date of the last change is at the top. If you continue to use the site after a change, you accept the new terms.

9. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Bulgarian law. Disputes are resolved first by negotiation and, if no agreement is reached, by the competent Bulgarian court. This does not limit your rights under the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live.
